Calling all Marvel Comic fans!! The new Black Panther movie is releasing today and SO many superhero fans are thrilled to see this action packed flick. Delight your superhero at their upcoming birthday party with a bold, Black Panther theme.
Black Panther Party Supplies
For this party’s décor, I combined art deco elements pulled from the movie’s poster imagery, character standees and Black Panther icons. The DIY backdrop was created using bright blue corrugated paper that I created a dramatic pattern on top of using black metallic streamers and a staple gun. I layered a black pleated tableskirt with a gold sequin table runner for dimension and to incorporate some of the art déco imagery.
The Black Panther himself was center stage as a standee, centered against the backdrop with his claw positioned as if it were grabbing the birthday cake. Supporting characters Shuri and Nakia were displayed to either side of the table’s ends in standee form for dramatic effect.
We added personalization to the party’s decorative elements through several paper products. Root beer bottles were wrapped with art deco sticker labels reading “Justice Juice”, chocolate bars were wrapped with art deco designs reading “T’Challa Treats” and party favor bags were filled with gumballs and text reading, “You’re a Hero! Thanks for Coming”.
Black Panther Desserts
When incorporating characters into a party’s design, I often select simple dessert designs to provide a more cohesive overall look. For the cake, we selected an 8” white buttercream cake and added black paper feathers to the top and around the base. Store bought cupcakes were dressed up with DIY arrow toppers. And, to incorporate the panther element from the movie, we added paw print sugar cookies. Cake and cupcakes were served on Black Panther paper plates.
Black Panther Party Activities
When selecting activities to entertain guests at a birthday party, I always choose 3-5 things that fit within the given theme, that are also age-appropriate. Here are some Black Panther party activities to consider incorporating, inspired by the movie itself:
We hope our ideas inspire you to create your own Black Panther party!

Valentine's Day takes on a much sweeter meaning when you have young children. Every holiday seems magical....so, we do our best to celebrate every opportunity in the sweetest way possible with our family. Since all of our kiddos love sweets (well, who doesn't!?!), we thought decorating Valentine's Day sugar cookies would be a fun way to celebrate the upcoming holiday.
We pulled out our family's favorite plates, personalized melamine plates From Dylbug for each of our children. I LOVE how I was able to personalize their hair color, hair style, and name color along the side of each plate. These are not only our go-to dishes for virtually every meal, they provide an adorable base for decorating sweets for any holiday.
Each simple heart sugar cookie was set on the plates as if it were a holiday outfit, then they were able to add buttercream icing, then top with an assortment of Valentine's Day candies. In addition to this fun collection of holiday candies, I set out red and pink sprinkles for them to also add.
Watching each of them carefully select and place their treats onto their cookies was mesmerizing....and then of course, the grand finale was getting to see their faces light up with joy as they enjoyed their masterpieces.
For a holiday activity, I love keeping the decor simple, yet pulled together. I added a solid pink polyester tablecloth over their play table, found white paper placemats for each child to contrast against the pink base, then placed a simple vase full of pink tulips, perfect for approaching Spring.
Celebrate playtime with your children for Valentine's Day, or any holiday for that matter, and set-up a simple, yet colorful activity to enjoy together as a family.

Our son Harrison LOVES anything related to obstacle challenges, and after attending several American Ninja Warrior classes last summer, decided that would be his 6th birthday party theme. We were in luck, as an Obstacle Warrior Kids facility opened near our home, creating the perfect setting for our ninja party.
I ironically had this custom painted backdrop created several months prior for this concept, so I was in luck when Harrison chose this theme, as it served for the design inspiration for the remaining components of the party. I wanted to break up the traditional red and black coloring for this theme, so I added white linens and a fun ethnic runner to the dessert tablescape design.
I chose a modern cake with simple red circles and store bought cupcakes we dressed up with small plastic swords and displayed on these fun ninja cupcake towers ninja cupcake towers. I love mixing simple elements into a party’s design, particularly when there is a theme involved. My splurge item were these origami ninja star napkins I imported especially for the party; they were SO fun!.
For seated tables, I wanted something simple, yet pulled together. So, I had 3D Ninja stars created as centerpieces, alternating between black and grey coloring. We used simple bamboo paper placemats for each guest’s seat, and our NEW ninja paper plates for a fun detail.
Each party guest took home white take-out boxes filled with ninja plastic men, ninja tattoos and special ordered fabric martial arts headbands; traditional designs for the boys and a more floral design for the girls. We added our printable favor tags, personalized with Harrison’s name and text reading, Thanks for Kickin it With Me!
We hope you got a kick out of our ninja party designs!! Shop this exclusive ninja party supply collection in our online store, including invitations, banners, favor tags, cupcake toppers, paper plates and paper cups.
