Inspiration for table décor can come from just about anywhere! I often source ideas from linens I spot, venue locations, party trends or a specific item I have in the prop room. For this modern navy and white bridal shower, my inspiration was this linen I sourced from my friends over at Napa Valley Linens. Several blue and white porcelain containers have been just waiting in the prop room for the right project, and when I spotted this linen, I knew this was the one! Follow our tips below for hosting your own gorgeous garden bridal shower.
Tips for Selecting the Invitation Suite
Once you find your jumping off point or source of inspiration, you can begin working on the details. For this theme, we actually worked backwards using the linen and porcelain coloring to create our printables suite. We were going for a modern floral motif to tie the entire look together. When selecting your event’s invitation suite, choose complementary colors and textures for your overall design aesthetic and chosen venue. For a garden bridal shower, look for floral motifs, soft coloring, and script fonts. Keep in mind that your printables suite doesn’t have to “match” your chosen theme. Rather, it should provide a hint to the party guests of the type of event they will be attending, and a nod to the décor elements you are working on.
Layer Colors & Textures
So often, I talk with friends and clients and they often suggest that all of the décor elements for a theme should match. As with interior design concepts, you will gain the greatest visual interest when you mix colors and textures for an overall layered effect. Choose complementary plate chargers, dinner plates and salad plates; layered together, you will have a fun and unique look for your event. We layered these modern navy and white polka dot dinner plates with a more subtle white dessert plate with a periwinkle blue trim. Those two colors paired well together, and pulled from our linen and porcelain elements for a cohesive appearance. Don’t be afraid to mix and match!
Focus on the Details
Simple gestures can make your guests feel welcomed to any event. Placecards are a simple way to personalize any event; they are simple and can add value to your décor elements. We added these fun silver elephant placecard holders, often associated with good fortune, to our tablescape design for an added layer of design. Consider party favors for your event. Our navy favor boxes provided additional color for our tablescape, and the truffles inside were a fun surprise for party guests. We added favor tags from our printable suite to each favor box for that final touch.
We hope you found inspiration for your next garden party and can't wait for you to share your ideas with us on social media or in the comments below!
