When planning our son's 3rd birthday party, choosing a theme was fairly challenging.....after all, Harrison is a super easy going child that only wants cake and friends at his celebration. So, I chose one of his favorite books as the design inspiration for his party, Little Blue Truck.
With only 15 minutes of set-up time at our chosen venue, we had to keep things simple, pre-assembled and easy to put into place. The centerpiece of our snack buffet was the 2-tier custom buttercream cake sitting atop a hay bale. In front of the cake, were perfectly decorated Little Blue Truck sugar cookies. And I couldn't resist including these super fun rooster cake ball pops sitting in a small egg carton; not only are these adorable, they are delicious.
For fun, we added elements from the book to either side of our center display- a plush toy, a copy of the book and a toy farm which doubled as a gift for the birthday boy.
For a healthy snack option, we offered guests "Farm Fresh Produce"; individual cups full of grapes and veggie sticks and cups of chicken feed (aka popcorn) displayed in a dump truck. Snacks and sweets were served on cow print dessert plates with silverware rolls (aka pitchforks). In addition to water, we offered farm fresh lemonade in blue cups decorated with 2" round party circles from our printable collection.
For seated tables, we layered tablecloths with a runner for added dimension. White paper tablecloths offered a base for our blue gingham and burlap runners. Each guest's seat had party hats ready for the big birthday song. And, in case littles needed something to keep them busy once inside the party room, we had buckets of farm theme coloring sheets and crayons.
And finally, for some photo ops, guests stood behind the custom made photo prop made complete with the super fun animal walking balloons scattered across the floor.
For favors, each guest took home gingham gable boxes full of bath toys which are one of my favorite items for a 3 year old's party; affordable and practical!
