There is something truly magical about the look in a little girl’s eyes when they fall upon unicorns! One of my absolute favorite things about planning children’s birthday parties is seeing how the guest of honor reacts when they first see their party’s décor….planning this sweet unicorn party was truly a treat!
As guests walked into the party space, they were greeted by this colorful Happy Birthday unicorn yard sign proudly displayed in the front yard.
Unicorn Party Decorations
When creating our main dessert table design, we wanted our centerpiece to be this stunning unicorn standee. So, we decided to place her front and center atop our table as a focal point.
For a ton of shimmer and shine, we attached 8 rows of white fringe to this 8’ standee backdrop which was freestanding behind the table. To add some contrast to this large white shimmer board, and to add height for visual balance, we added a single pink and silver star mylar balloon to either side of our dessert table.
For an extra splash of feminine pink, we draped the front of our table with this pink tulle tableskirt. And to add dimension and even more sparkle, we layered this silver sequin runner across the center of the table.
Unicorn Desserts & Snacks
Our rainbow star cake was displayed atop a white milk glass stand, off centered as not to compete with the unicorn standee. Beautiful rainbow cake slices were served on pink unicorn dessert plates with glasses of pink lemonade to wash it down.
To balance out the table’s height, we created these fun DIY unicorn cupcakes by adding sugar ice cream cones as toppers and ”Be Magical” cupcake wrappers around vanilla cupcakes topped with light pink buttercream.
For a whimsical snack in keeping with the party’s theme, we whipped up a batch of “Unicorn Food” for party guests to snack on, aka white chocolate covered popcorn sprinkled with star shaped candies and pink sprinkles.
Unicorn Party Favors
And finally, each guest took home their very own unicorn compact mirrors with a “You’re Magical” inscription and pink or purple unicorn necklaces. Throughout the party, guests also enjoyed playing with glitter star wands and creating these adorable unicorn balloons using this fun, easy DIY unicorn balloon kit.
